These are great fun to make, worked in the round and with chunky yarn they are a delightfully speedy make. However, be prepared if you crochet one of these that you will forever receive requests from your immediate friends and family to "just make" them one. No Aunt Brenda, I cannot "just make you a mermaid tail" especially if you aren't even prepared to pay for the yarn...

You can choose any chunky King Cole yarn for this pattern, I would recommend using a contrast between a variegated yarn King Cole Tonal Chunky and a solid yarn like King Cole Big Value Chunky for the ribbing and fins. 

You will need 4.5mm, 5mm and 5.5mm crochet hooks and stitch markers for this project for this project.
